The first official "Deadpool & Wolverine" trailer broke the Guinness World Record for the most viewed movie trailer in 24 hours with 365 million global views. I had at least 100 of those views.

Now, I would be lying if I said that I don’t have the dance moves to NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye,” which is featured in the opening scene, memorized, but that is not why the much-awaited comic film is the best movie of the year.

I have long hoped to see these two characters together on screen again since their first crossover in “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.”

Reynolds and Jackman bring an undeniable chemistry, balancing Deadpool's irreverent, fourth wall-breaking humor with Wolverine’s stoic, no-nonsense demeanor. Their banter and teamwork bring endless entertainment, and the actors’ real-life friendship only amplifies their on-screen dynamic, making every scene between them electric.

The film’s writing and tone striked a perfect balance between action and comedy, maintaining the signature humor that made Deadpool popular while exploring Wolverine’s darker, more introspective side.

The screenplay blends fast-paced dialogue and hilarious one-liners with surprisingly emotional character development. Wolverine’s battle-worn past and Deadpool’s struggle with his identity as a “hero” are woven into the plot, allowing the film to explore deeper themes while still delivering the chaotic fun that fans expect. This thoughtful approach elevates the movie above standard superhero fare.

Another reason “Deadpool & Wolverine” resonates is its spectacular action sequences. Directed by Shawn Levy, known for his work on “Free Guy” and “Stranger Things”, the film includes stunning fight choreography, innovative stunts and impressive visual effects. Each action scene is meticulously crafted, allowing the characters to showcase their unique fighting styles.

Deadpool’s wild, unpredictable moves contrast sharply with Wolverine’s brute strength and precision, resulting in a series of thrilling set-pieces. From explosive battles to tightly choreographed hand-to-hand combat, the action is both visually exciting and integral to the story.

The movie also benefits from a well-developed supporting cast and a compelling villain. Without giving away spoilers, the antagonist poses a genuine threat that tests both heroes' limits, creating stakes that feel tangible and personal. The supporting characters, including several fan-favorite X-Men and unexpected cameos, bring additional humor and depth, enhancing the story without overshadowing the central duo. These characters are woven seamlessly into the narrative, adding layers to the plot while building anticipation for future Marvel movies.

On top of these elements, “Deadpool & Wolverine” succeeds in refreshing the superhero genre. In a time when audiences are experiencing “superhero fatigue,” this film’s originality and boldness are a breath of fresh air. It takes risks, embraces the absurdity of its premise, and doesn’t shy away from self-awareness. The film breaks conventional storytelling boundaries, often addressing the audience directly and poking fun at the superhero genre itself.

This self-referential humor, paired with a well-crafted story, gives the movie a distinct identity that appeals to both longtime Marvel fans and newcomers.

Now if you’re not like me and haven't been watching the movie at least three times a week since you bought it in October, the movie will be available to stream on Disney+ on Nov. 12.
